Stochastics meets Geometry

Europe/Berlin
Description

Venue: Seminar Room SR 3.69, Department of Mathematics, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT)

The workshop is conducted within the scope of the research group "VIII. Mathematics at the Interface of Science and Technology towards Innovation - Seeds in Mathematics versus Needs outside Mathematics" of the HeKKSaGOn network.

We plan to explore in detail results and questions concerning two topics at the intersection of stochastics and geometry: The talks and discussions on Tuesday afternoon will be devoted to smeariness phenomena on closed Riemannian manifolds, and the ones on Wednesday to distances and distortions in pattern recognition.
