The OPENSENSE working groups WG1, WG2 and WG3 will meet for a joint face2face hands-on meeting at CTU Prague.

Main objectives

We have several objectives for the meeting. We will put more or less weight on individual objectives depending on the expertise of the final on-site participants and depending on progress in the WGs till the meeting. Here is the list of objectives.

Discussing:

  • Solution for versioning of data formats (WG1 and WG2)
  • Existing software for rainfall data merging and ideas/structure for new merging software package (WG3 and WG2)
  • Standards for operational real-time OS data (WG1, WG2, WG3)
  • Training school of WG3

Programming:

  • Joint code development for poligrain, pypwsqc and SML data processing (WG2)
  • Code development regarding data format conventions and its versioning, potentially linked to poligrain (WG1 and WG2)
  • Conversion of individual available OS dataset samples to OPENSENSE data format (WG1 and WG2)
  • Prototype of merging software package, building on functionality of poligrain (WG2 and WG3)

Writing:

  • Paper on global OS data coverage (WG1)
  • Paper on merging OS data (WG3)

Application

Participants are expected to substantially contribute to at least one of the objectives. This contribution has to be described in the application form.

Applications can be submitted from now on and the latest till 25th of February 2024.

Info on acceptance or rejection will be sent the latest on 26th of February 2024.

Preliminary schedule

Note that we will wrap up the meeting already on Thursday evening since, due to travel plans, we will only have a reduced number of core contributors on site on Friday morning. But there will be a room available to continue the work till Friday at noon for those that do not have to travel already in the morning.

Also note that the hybrid slots are meant to synchronize with core contributors that cannot join the meeting in Prague. We do not plan to continuously coordinate online contributions during the meeting. Hence, online-only participation is not planned.

Reimbursement

For confirmed on-site participants who are approved OPENSENSE member, all costs will be covered by OPENSENSE, following the rules of COST, i.e.  reimbursement of travel costs + a daily allowance. The COST table for daily allowance is here
