Inventory status clarification
There are 2 definitions of "preproduction" in the wider HGCAL discourse
- The cassette-base definition, where the total number of deliveries is defined by material that is required to complete 2 layers of cassettes. This is the definition used by KIT for material procurement
- The MAC ramp-up definition, used by UCSB, where the total number of deliveries is defined by the material that is expected to be completed while training the MACs to achieve the target production rate.
The difference between these two definitions differs by a factor of 1.5 for CuW and 2.0 for Ti, with the ramp-up definition being higher.
In terms of the actual inventory that we currently have accessible to with the KIT workshop
- We have "a lot" of CuW. (How much is "a lot"; Markus will check with the workshop to get the estimate amount in writing)
- We only have 1 extra plate of Ti on hand, so ~9 more full baseplates.
In terms of the December shipment, we should be able to complete this shipment without missing any items (maybe missing a couple of Ti plates). In the future, we should aim to ensure that the baseplate production rate is faster than preproduction schedule. In terms of the material for the Feburary delivery and beyond.
- The majority of CuW has been procured (through CERN)
- There is currently discussion about Ti procurement with India, this should be settled after next week's discussion (by Markus)
- Additional Kapton sheets should be ordered as soon as possible. These should be tracked in a central datasheet/database.
- Shipping should be handled by CERN.
Comments about next week's plans
- Laminating large plates should be delayed unless we seriously lack plates (Workshop will be cutting new plates)
- Peel/Pull test can be coordinates with Brenden/Maria/IPE. (Underway)
QC status comments
- Now using a threshold-contour method for creating a definition for the edge.
- Still understanding the expect resolution of the method.
- Automated features detection and coordinate comparision between 2 cameras is the goal for next week.
