KSETA PhD Campus North excursion

Europe/Berlin
Description

Have you ever wondered what your KSETA colleagues do at their institutes at Campus North? This excursion is your chance to find out!

Important Note: Campus North has certain acces restrictions! If you work at Campus North you obviously already have access to it. If you work at Campus South and have a KIT employee ID card (green) you can also just enter without any further formalities. If you work at Campus South and are funded by a scholarship, thus enrolled as a student with only a blue ID card, we have to register you at the reception office at the main gate. If this is the case please tell us in the "other remarks" section of the registration form, we will then contact you for further details.

    • IBPT

The Institute for Beam Physics and Technology houses the
Karlsruhe Research Accelerator (KARA) and Far-infrared linac and test
experiment (FLUTE). After an introductory session we will tour both test
      facilities.

    • IMK

The Atmospheric Aerosol Research department department at the
Institute of Meteorology and Climate Research (IMK-AAF) at campus north
uses the AIDA aerosol chamber for measurements on precipitation
originating from dust and suspended droplets. Hopefully we can peek inside.

    • Lunch
    • IAP

At IAP we will talk to Mr. Eitel about several dark matter
experiments (DARWIN/EDELWEISS/XENON). A small lab tour as well as some
exhibits will be shown with a presentation and small discussion on the
      topic.

    • KATRIN

You've probably heard about the KATRIN experiment. We will
tour the spectrometer hall and explore insights into vacuum chamber,
magnetisation and tritium preparation within the experiment.
