N² - Network of Networks

What is N²?

In March 2017 the Spokespersons of Max Planck PhDnetHelmholtz Juniors and Leibniz PhD Network released the official letter to create a platform of "Network of Networks" called N². Since November 2018, the International PhD Program joined N² as an associated member. This platform will be a focal point to promote every topic concerning doctoral researchers. We want to thank all previous spokespersons of the different networks, who helped during the whole process and will also stay connected with us, taking the role of advisors at N².

Our goals:

To connect early career researchers across institutes, disciplines and organizations and foster scientific exchange. Since most of the doctoral researchers we represent will not be willing or able to find a position in academia, we feel the need to highlight different career paths. Therefore our event will shed a light on the area between research and industry, where knowledge is transferred and innovation is generated. Last but not least we want to increase the visibility of our organization to the outside. N² is a comparatively young platform representing doctoral researchers across Germany. Nevertheless, we are by far the largest organization of this type in Germany. As such we want to establish our organization as partner when it comes to shaping the future of the German academic system.
