Description
The Berlin Big Data Center (BBDC) is a Competence Centre funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research lead by Technische Universität Berlin. Within the BBDC the consortium consisting of the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society, the Beuth University of Applied Sciences Berlin and the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) and the Konrad-Zuse-Centre for Information Technology (ZIB) will develop scalable technology which enable the deep analysis of Big Data.
The BBDC strives to fuse the academic disciplines of machine learning and data management into scalable data analysis. The goal is to develop a declarative, highly-scalable open source system to, which enables the specification, automatic optimization, parallelization and hardware adaptation as well as the fault-tolerant and efficient execution of different data analysis methods (e.g., from machine learning, linear algebra, statistics, probability theory, computational linguistics and signal processing). This technology will be validated in the three representative application domains materials science, healthcare and information market places. Furthermore, the BBDC will support innovation in companies and start-ups by means of knowledge and technology transfer.
