On Thursday evening, 03.04., a tour to the Elbphilharmonie plaza is planned as a social event. On the way to the Elbphilharmonie, we will take a ferry to catch a view of the harbour and river Elbe, and finally continue to the Blockbräu restaurant for a self-paid dinner.
For a smooth tour, there are a few points you need to take care of in advance:
- For the trip to and on the ferry, you need a HVV public transport ticket.
- The trip requires a ticket for "Hamburg AB" which costs 7.25€ and is valid for the whole day. You could therefore use the same ticket to get to the workshop from your hotel in the morning.
- Please buy tickets online in advance via the HVV website or app (iOS / Android).
- There is also a ticket machine at the bus stop near DESY (Trabrennbahn Bahrenfeld), but this is more expensive and cash only. There will probably also be a line. Therefore, we advise against using the ticket machine and recommend to use the app instead.
- Note that if you already have a Deutschland ticket, you do not need to buy a public transportation ticket.
- Access to Elbphilharmonie plaza is free but granted on a first-come-first-serve basis
- Free tickets are availabile at the counter at Elbphilharmonie, but there is no guarantee that you will still be able to get one.
- If you want to ensure you get access to the plaza, you can reserve tickets in advance at a cost of 3€ per ticket on the Elbphilharmonie website. The appropriate time slot is 3 April 18:30 to 19:30.
- Dinner at Blockbräu
- We have reserved a table at the restaurant to have dinner together after visiting Elbphilharmonie.
- Note that the dinner is self-paid.
The trip towards the Elbphilharmonie is planned entirely using public transport in the HVV. You can find the route below with linked GPS locations and bus/ferry lines indicated. When travelling with the main group, local guides will help make sure you find your way. If you intent to only join part of the social event, you can use the indicated times to rejoin the group at Elbphilharmonie or Blockbräu.
- Walk to bus stop Trabrennbahn Bahrenfeld.
- Take bus line 1 towards Bahnhof Altona.
- Bus leaves every 10 minutes.
- Get off at Bleikenallee (10th stop).
- Walk to ferry terminal Övelgönne.
- Take ferry line 62 towards Landungsbrücken.
- Ferry leaves every 15 minutes.
- Get off at Landungsbrücken (3rd stop, end of trip).
- Walk to Elbphilharmonie (arriving ca. 18:30).
- Visit the Elbphilharmonie plaza
- Walk to Blockbräu (arriving ca. 19:30).
