Excursion to ASTRON (Netherlands) 6-7.09.18

This year, the KSETA excursion will visit the Netherlands Institute for Radio Astronomy ASTRON. We will have a chance to talk to the experts at the experimental site and broaden our knowledge about radio astronomy :)

Thursday, September 6

1 Departure from Karlsruhe for Spier (6,9 km from Dwingeloo) ---------------------------------------------------------- We will have a dinner on the way around 6 p.m.

Friday, September 7

2 Check-out and transfer to ASTRON site ------------------------------------------------------------- We will take bus 35 at 10:10 from the Brinkkampen street. We will then arrive at Lhee, Oosteresweg and have to walk 15 minutes from there to ASTRON. We should then arrive at 10:40 to ASTRON.

3 Tour R&D and Dwingeloo Telescope by Tammo Jan Dijkema

4 control room with Sander ter Veen

5 lunch at ASTRON (arranged)

6 transfer to LOFAR by ASTRON bus

7 tour at LOFAR by Olaf Scholten and Sander ter Veen

8 transfer to WSRT site by "our" bus

9 walk around WSRT (MilkyWay path) + camp site if possible

10 Dinner

11 departure from WSRT and transfer to Karlsruhe

We should arrive around 1 a.m.
