Description

The Beam Position Monitor (BPM) System at BESSY II is currently in the process of an upgrade from analogue multiplexing BPMs with low frequency Analogue to Digital Converters (ADC) to modern fully integrated digital BPMs. At the same time, the Fast Orbit Feedback (FOFB) is being adapted and upgraded to enable un-interrupted operation during the 6-12 month upgrade period. With 3/16 of the upgrade complete, a review of the plan, challenges in implementation and future steps will be provided. Furthermore, recent challenges to orbit stability arising from more or lesser known disturbances will be summarised.
